Over the years I have killed more African Violets than I can remember. Sad but true. My mother always had them blooming on the kitchen windowsill. My grandmother had them blooming in the dining room window. When we got our first house, I started buying them so I could have a window of Violets blooming too. But they never lasted. If the cats didn't knock them out of the window, chew them up, well, then I would kill them. I really tried and tried thinking each one was going to be the one that I would be so proud of growing. Mom said it was all in finding the right window for them.
Well, when we moved to this house in 2002, I tried once again to grow African Violets. And yes, I finally have the perfect window for them!! They seem to be happy and make me happy. I have even rooted a few leaves to make more of them.
