I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving Day. When I looked over my planned menu I realized the only things on it that I could or would eat were turkey and raw veggies with dip! I don't do things with sugar, butter or breads so that wiped out my menu! lol Truthfully I do not feel bad about it. But I do get a little irritated well, ok, pissed when my aunt says can you eat stuffing and I say I don't do anything bread. And two minutes later, she asks if I can eat a corn pudding muffin... no, I don't do bread. And are you having pumpkin pie... no, way too much sugar for me. Well, she thought maybe I could just take one bite! We go through this all the time and it's getting very old. I really don't understand why she does this.
Other than that, we had a good day but I'm tired out from all the food preparations I've done in the last two days. And just think, I get to do it again Christmas. I really wish that just once I could have someone invite me to their house for a holiday meal. The last Thanksgiving that I didn't have to cook was in 1983 because I came home from the hospital with our son that day... our 8 lb. 5 oz. little turkey. lol So I have cooked every holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Easter) meal since 1980! I'm tired.
Don't get me wrong, I do love to cook a big holiday dinner but one holiday off would be nice. And going out to a restaurant just doesn't count.
I forgot to take my usual dinner photos but this weekend I'll post the photos of the long neck pumpkin that I used to make the pie. First time I used one and everyone said the pie was delicious. I had never heard of them until this year. I bought it at a local store near us, The Amish Country Store. They sell all the good stuff that we miss from growing up in Maryland and Pennsylvania. The pumpkin came from Pennsylvania.
