Sick

Here it is 11 days into the new year and I'm sick. I've got such a sore throat that even water hurts to swallow. Tomorrow I probably will be calling the doctor. This is my first sickness since being on Humira for my rheumatoid arthritis and I'm supposed to let them know.

I'm going to finish reading my book and hope I feel well enough later to take some photos of things to add to Etsy. I've been neglecting my shop since Christmas and it's time to get back to it. I've got lots of treasures to add and also a bunch of crafty stuff from my stash that I know I'll never use. My project for this year is to get more organized!

Thrifting, Rummage and Yard Sales

Since I opened my Etsy shop with vintage things, I have spent a lot of time hunting for treasures to sell in it. In Florida, this is the time of year for all the rummage sales and yard sales since our weather is so nice.

This quote made me think about some of the things I have seen and wondered how people could part with things like linens that their grandmothers stitched, old family photos etc. I'm too sentimental to part with anything that was made by someone in my family! In fact, I still use a couple of cloth diapers as dust rags that belonged to my son. lol He will be 25 next week so they have gotten some use over the years!

We may not have the changes in trees like up north but I don't mind when we have something as beautiful as this to look forward to each autumn.

 

 

Opened another Etsy Shoppe

I opened an Etsy shoppe with vintage items called Aunt Mildred's Attic Treasures. Although I have a ton of treasures around here already, I've been having a great time shopping the thrift stores, estate sales and garage sales. Now to get busy taking photos and adding them to etsy. Some of the goodies I've picked up are just so hard to part with but I'm making myself do it! Maybe one day we will actually be able to park a car or two in our garage. Yeah, probably not but I let hubby think we will! lol

I don't knit so this one is easier to part with. But the photos in it are kind of fun to look at. I guess I am not used to seeing people smoking cigarettes anymore in books. And how about all those bottles of Coke?

Dreary Tuesday

It rained overnight and there is no sunshine in Florida this morning. And I feel as dreary as it looks outside. Just can't get myself motivated to do anything yet today and morning is half over. Yesterday I had a bunch of energy and got lots of things done. Today... blah. I hate days when I feel like this.

I was going to go to a church thrift store that is only open on Tuesday. But I don't even feel like doing that. Maybe that's exactly what I do need to do though... get myself out of the house. Oh, well, I'll think about it.

Happy Labor Day

I hope today was a relaxful day for everyone. I sure didn't do much labor today. But I did manage to get some more photos uploaded to my Flickr. I also added some items to Etsy. Hubby did the cooking today so I didn't even do that. Now tomorrow will be another day and I'll catch up on laundry and house things then.

Hurricane Watch

It looks like we will be getting a visit from Fay. As of now, the sky is a beautiful blue and the sun is shining. Just another lovely summer morning in paradise. Except we are under a hurricane watch.

Later we will go outside and take down hanging baskets, bird feeders and anything that could become a projectile because of high winds. We are stocked up on hurricane supplies like water and batteries.

We made a visit to the grocery store yesterday for bread and some lunch meats. For those of you up north, it's like the grocery store right before a snow storm. Crazy and crowded! Shelves are picked over especially bread and water. They only had a few bottles of distilled but I didn't need any. We get my Zephyrhills by the cases at Sam's. And this afternoon we'll fill the coolers with ice just in case we lose power. Gotta keep my water cold!

Jury Duty

Today I had jury duty. I was so dreading it. My hubby loves it and yet I've been chosen twice since he did it. Aren't I just so lucky?

I had to be there at 8:15 and I was able to leave around 11 to come home since I wasn't chosen. I was getting concerned though because they had let almost everyone leave. I was the second to the last bunch of us to get to go home. Whew!

For my almost 3 hours of time and the 30 minutes drive there and 30 minutes back home, I was paid $15.00. But I guess I shouldn't complain, it's money I wouldn't have made at home. :) Now, I'm safe from being called for another year.

Does anyone really like jury duty other than my hubby?
